Gothic Revival Smoking Room
In my historical design class, I was asked to choose a design style and specific room to design. The focus of this project was to be accurate to the style chosen and to design in alignment with the room chosen. I chose Gothic Revival for its ornate style. Due to the fact that the Gothic Revival style was most prevalent in the mid 19th century, I wanted to choose a room that felt unique to that period. During my research, I discovered the original smoking room, used for the men of the house to gather separately from the women and children. For this room, I chose a masculine feel that would go seamlessly with the dark colors and heavy detail of the space. This project was drawn and rendered using SketchUp and Enscape.
